Michelle and Mark met in Montreal on a New Year’s Eve, about an hour before midnight. “We never expected to see each other again, and yet the very next day, we happened to be on the same bus returning to Hamilton,” says Michelle.
The much anticipated proposal came on a trip to Florida. They finished having dinner and, back at the hotel, there was a bucket of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries and a note that read, ‘It’s about time!’ “Mark was on one knee, ring in hand and I cried like a baby.”
The couple had their wedding reception at The Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, ON. The men and boys wore kilts, with the tartan colours inspiring the theme of the wedding.
Perhaps the most special moment was when Michelle’s father sang a song he had written for her the day she was born. “He wrote it hoping to sing it at my wedding… and that’s just what he did! There wasn’t a dry eye in the place,” says Michelle.
