It was a day filled with fun food and drink when Alison and Jesse McGeachie were married on October 23rd in Toronto, Ontario in front of 100 of their closest friends and family. The venue choice of the Steam Whistle Brewery combined with a green and black colour scheme made their wedding day unique.
When Alison completed her university degree in Guelph, she moved to Kingston to be close to her family. Her twin brother James had gone to Queens and was living in an apartment with two of his friends. Jesse was one of those roommates. Alison remembers James telling her that he thought she would like him, not as a potential husband but as a friend. Jesse and Alison were friends for about a year before they started dating. A year later they moved to Toronto together and the rest is history. Jesse proposed to Alison in Central Park on a late night carriage ride.
As for the couple’s favourite wedding moment, Alison recalls their “first look” of each other on that day. “It was really great seeing him and having that first hug and kiss of the day because I think we both instantly felt more relaxed and excited about the rest of the day ahead.”
The fun continued aboard a Steam Whistle bus the happy couple had rented for the day, as the bridal party went to a few different locations for their wedding photos. That was what Alison and Jesse wanted for their wedding day – being together and having a great time with the people they love.
The couple’s wedding favours were by far their most memorable wedding detail. The groom brewed a beer and the couple bottled them in small beer bottles they had collected over the months leading up to the wedding. “I worked with a friend of ours to design the label of what became our “I Do Brew,” says Jesse.
