Angela Facundo & Margo Gouley
These study buddies met while completeing their English PhDs at York University in Toronto and began writing their very own love story!
Sign here: “When we were signing the licence, the officiant handed us a large, thick book that housed the records of all the people whose weddings she had officiated,” says Angela. “We signed our names at the bottom of a long list of various handwritten signatures, and we felt like we became part of a long held tradition of celebrating love. It felt like, in a small way, we were changing a very old institution by becoming a part of it.”
First dance: Margo, being a bit of an introvert, was dreading all eyes upon her during the first dance. So rather than going it alone, the couple invited the guests to join them on the dance floor.
Planning advice: “Plan the event together in equal measure,” says Angela. “Try to limit outside influences when it comes to decision making. And set aside some time for just the two of you on the day.”
Honeymoon: The couple didn’t waste any time, leaving the day after their wedding for two weeks in Italy, visiting Venice, Florence and Rome.
